Anchoring to Concrete- Updates for 2026: Part 2- Shear Lugs
Presented by Bahram M. Shahrooz, PhD, PE
Registration: https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/7604969442012385622
The 10th edition of the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications includes significant revisions to the provisions for concrete anchorage in structures. It is critical for engineers to adopt these updates to enhance structural safety and comply with the latest design standards. This presentation is the second of a three-part webinar series, “Anchoring to Concrete Updates for 2026,” which will discuss procedures to design, detail, and install anchors as they apply to highway bridges. Part 2 covers Shear Lugs. A recording of Part 1 from May 2026 is available below for your information.

Stress–Strain Behavior and Performance of ESCS Concrete
Presented by Fariborz M Tehrani, PhD, PE
This webinar presents practical applications of structural lightweight and internally cured concrete produced with expanded shale, clay, and slate (ESCS) aggregates for bridge infrastructure. The presentation draws on recent experimental and analytical research to demonstrate how ESCS concrete improves stress–strain behavior, reduces modulus of elasticity, mitigates cracking, and enhances durability in bridge decks, girders, and pavements.

Unducted Epoxy Coated Strand in Practice: The Laurel Fork Bridge
Presented by Justin Campbell, Jon Cornelius, and Jerry Pfuntner
This webinar will use the previously constructed Laurel Fork Bridge in North Carolina to demonstrate the use of unducted epoxy coated strand (ECS). The FHWA has supported the development of ECS external continuity tendons as a corrosion-resistant, durable alternative to traditional grouted systems. This technology removes the need for plastic ducts and grout fillers, providing a direct, inspectable, and highly protected tendon for bridge construction and rehabilitation.
