The National Concrete Bridge Council (NCBC) is pleased to introduce our webinar program. Whether you’re involved in bridge design, maintenance, construction, or asset management we will be bringing you valuable insights regarding the concrete bridge industry. Certificates of attendance are available for these free 1 hour webinars.

“CUTTING EDGE PERFORMANCE CONCRETE FOR SUSTAINABLE BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION“
Presented by Eckart Buhler, PE
Register for September’s Webinar!
The use of silica fume in conjunction with higher amounts of other SCMs can reduce the quantity of Portland cement required and lead to a significant reduction in CO2 associated with concrete construction. Using silica fume to produce high-strength concrete bridge components can reduce the volume of concrete and reinforcement required and increase the service life of concrete bridges exposed to chlorides and other chemicals.
Other scheduled dates:
October 16, 2024: The Critical Role of Construction Engineers in Building Bridges, presented by JJ Reily
November 20, 2024: Qualification, Verification, and Certification of Multi-Strand and Bar Post-Tensioning Systems, presented by Tim Christle
December 18, 2024: topic and speaker TBA
RECORDINGS
“SUSTAINABILITY AND HOW IT AFFECTS CONCRETE BRIDGES”
Presented by Emily Lorenz, PE
April 2024 Webinar: Register to View Recording
Sustainability is a hot topic now, but rarely does the discussion focus on the concrete bridge industry. Our April webinar was for anyone who plans, designs, constructs, maintains, inspects and manages concrete infrastructure.
“A LOT HAS CHANGED! THE UPDATED 4th EDITION OF THE PCI BRIDGE DESIGN MANUAL”
Presented by Richard Miller, PhD, PE, FPCI
May 2024 Webinar: Register to View Recording
It is important to keep up to date with the PCI Bridge Design Manual! Our May webinar featured the BDM 4th Edition, 1st Release and its updates to make it current with the 9th Edition of the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specification, along with new or updated PCI publications and recent results of PCI sponsored research.
“INTRODUCING FHWA’S LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE BRIDGE DESIGN PRIMER“
Presented by Reid Castrodale, PhD, PE, FPCI
June 2024 Webinar: Register to View Recording
Lightweight concrete has been used successfully for over 100 years. Design provisions have been available from AASHTO for over 35 years, but it is not commonly used for bridge construction. This webinar will present research, field experience and project descriptions to demonstrate that lightweight concrete can be used as a durable and cost-effective material for bridges.
“A REVIEW OF PRECAST CONCRETE SEGMENTAL BRIDGE DESIGN RESOURCES“
Presented by John Corven, PE
July 2024 Webinar: Register to View Recording
Since their introduction more than 50 years ago concrete segmental bridges have played an important part in our infrastructure. Specialized casting and construction methods have produced cost-effective bridges that are adaptable to any highway geometry or site constraints. This online seminar covers typical span lengths, construction methods, resources from ASBI and PCI.
“INTRODUCING TEXTURED EPOXY COATED REINFORCING“
Presented by Anthony Del Percio and Jeffrey Rogozinski
August 2024 Webinar: Register to View Recording
Textured epoxy coatings could significantly improve bridge lifespans by setting a new standard in bond strength, damage tolerance and corrosion resistance for rebar. This new approach to coating rebar has the potential to change a core aspect of concrete bridge construction. Known as textured epoxy coating (TEC), this technology has been approved by ASTM. As a secondary coating, TEC provides added protection for epoxy-coated rebar (ECR), commonly referred to as “green bar,” which is the industry’s leading corrosion protection solution.
